A poem of confounding pain.

Heart of Darkness

I am your heart, strong and pure.

At least… I was until your lover’s

broken promise ensured.

I tried to warn you he shouldn’t be’

but his charms soon fooled even me.

He promised he would stay, and

maybe he meant to, but then he

went away and you… you… you

were just another for his Jar of Hearts.

He hurt you, he hurt me, and we tried to

warn you, but you were too blind to see.

Mortals and Casters cannot love, a

curse, not of magic, placed long ago,

but you did, he hurt you and now

Claimed for the Dark you go.

You watch him, the bastard, and

his new slut burn.

You revel in their screams and

from anger to pleasure your

emotions turn.

You visit a grave, his to be

precise; you smirk to say you

don’t need him anymore, you’ve

already paid the price.

I’m your heart, now healed, but

now I’m black, cold, and twisted, no

longer caring or so full of fear.

I’m now a warning, along with

your now golden yellow eyes, that

now and forevermore, there’s

nothing but Darkness here.
