He asked me about me, without feigning interest. This is my response
You asked me
What my heart beats to
I hesitated, not of not knowing
I hesitated for I wanted to know
If you truly were interested

In the galloping sounds it makes
The endless growls, hollow at times
It has no rhyme mister, no sense of music
Not that I don't believe in magic
Tapestries that form the rainbow

It is because
My rainbow has but one color
It is not a half masked moon
It is a full moon mister
A light that blurs a looking eye

No one looked at it before
No one could, and I don't blame them
Even I hate it sometimes
I hide in the cradle of the clouds
And I tell them am seeking warmth

I hesitated
Because I wanted to know
If you could look
Maybe listen sometime
Maybe you could hear

That it beats for immortality
Locked rings of humanity
It beats for oneness, togetherness
Endless flow of all our tomorrows
It beats for you and your broken arrows

Yes there is stronger, even better
Yes mingled colors are beautiful
But none has more soul
None laughs like a lion's roar
None has bothered to ask
What does your heart beat to
