Writers Cramp entry two witches discuss apples
Witches Deux

But how do you deliver a potion, Creta?
In this age of twittering internet and books of face?
In lotion that leaves a chemical trace?

Berta, lotion is abhorrent, in smell subjective,
and if disliked never gains their perspective.

Berta and Creta stood at cauldrons bubble,
One scratched her warted nose,
the other her stubble.

Old ways are best Berta an apples red sparkle,
crisp red delicious, a braeburn perhaps,
a tart fuji or gala for a wrap.

Poor Creta you dolt with your palate mundane
exotically think,
Cox’s Orange pippin or maybe Cripps Pink.
A red flesh apple its almost a drink,
a draught a dribble an Arkansas Black,
One bite of these and they never come back.

Berta your taste like a spell should stay humble
What good is an apple that over you never stumble
say Egremont Russet or Spartan or Cameo,
What good are these names?
by search engine, a picture the same

James Grieve Apple, Idared, or Empire perhaps,
oh bother what’s the use,
the apple should be obtainable stop being obtuse

Creta and Berta looked into the distance,
then pondered at pause,
Golden delicious then, Berta put forth
No dear, Honeycrisp, Creta posited
of course,
who can resist the honeycrisp.
