This poem is an ode to being the oldest and having siblings that are much younger
My Brother, My Sister

My brother makes me angry

His arrogance,

His entitlement,

The privilege

He won't

own up to

My brother makes me proud

His intelligence

His unexpected insight,

His empathy and understanding

My sister makes me angry

Her unrelenting stubbornness,

Her extreme adolescent attitude,

Her apparent apathy for our parent's feelings and sanity

My sister makes me proud

Her uniqueness,

Her determination

Her wisdom

My brother makes me angry

His short temper

His lack of tact

His never ending role as the victim of the family.

My brother makes me proud

His wit

His boldness,

His unsuspecting kindness and maturity

As they grow,

As they learn

I begin to notice the things I like about them

The things that make thaem people,

Individuals.

They are becoming more than extensions of myself.
