A Poem Inspired by Chickamauga Battlefield.
The Blood Ran Red

The blood ran red
Crimson swirled in the creek
As the smell of death thickens
A blanket of lives lost
Covers the warm Georgia clay.

The blood ran red
A war never really won
No winners, no losers
Only those who sacrifice all.

The blood ran red
Waves of scarlet stream
Cries of pain and horror
Fill the darkened skies.

The blood ran red
Crimson swirled the plain
As the scent of death rises
A blanket of lives lost
Covers the cold Georgia clay.
