A poem admiring the age of 17
I thought 17 was forever.
I thought my life was you.

Man, was I wrong.

Everyday was an adventure.
Now it still is, just without you.

You were my adventure,
Now I am my own one.
I am so happy and ready,
To let everyone know that.

I can't imagine going back
To who we once were
and to how life once was.
I'm not even remotely
That girl, you once knew
And I know that the boy
You once were, is long gone.

The time was great.
A piece of our own history.
But now we must part
Because we have more
To write, with new people,
But most importantly
Ourselves.
