Response to the word prompt
Time and tide wait for no man,
It is thus and always has been.
The days go by watching me,
And I watching them, unseen.

Carpe diem they yell at me.
Me, hidden under the covers.
No new day shall find me unafraid.
This fear forever above me hovers.

How can I fight myself and live for once?
This question drives me crazy.
And then I feel the past again,
Hide beneath the covers more deeply.

Today is a new day again.
Maybe it’s the day it finally ends.
Maybe this fear will go away.
With my past, I’ll make amends.
