Three whistles to summon the loved one, but a brief interruption takes place.
FLASH FICTION - MAY 11 WHISPER WINDOW WHISTLE

Jonathan scurried up the branch that led to his nightly visitation with his newest and fairest of them all, Nancy Lynn. Three whistles was his signal for her to quietly open the bedroom window for the moment they dreamed of all day.
Three whistles scuttled into Nancy Lynn's finely tuned ears. She slung open the window and took one last look in the mirror. A knock on the door and in marched mother. Jonathan had one leg slung over the sill, a big grin on his silly face as he stared directly into her eyes.
Frantically he started to unwind his leg for a quick escape when Nancy Lynn grabbed his arm and whispered in his ear.
Don't worry she is sleep walking. In the morning you will be a dream.
