Trying a different kind of poetic structure, play in the sun while you've got it
Fur and Feathers

Seeking validation, from a sun that doesn't shine
Behind a darkened veil, a silver moon reflects
As wolves so far beneath it, they howl and they pine
In packs, consolidation, the night, it hides defects
Concealing the hollows, 'neath furrows of the soul
With picture perfect portraits, tweeted in the dark
Feelings that follow, a need to feel whole
Split between partitions, with hemispheres stark
When light can't shine on everyone, some shadows they must fall
Ones in veiled darkness, must step into the light
Frantic wolves will take their runs, 'tween objects long and tall
Balancing desires, hidden in plain sight
Yearning to run amidst the beams, a silhouette on show
A cryptic shift of shadow, in the corner of the eye
Living halfway on the seams, as dusk and twilight go
The pack can only give so much, the soul it longs to fly
Yet wolves, their place lies in the night, accustomed as they are
Grounded by a forest moon, reflecting on the day
In shadows, static, bound from flight, a dream of flying far
With tethered wings and feathered things, weathered where they play
At dreams of being whole again, two hemispheres merged
Schemes of spreading feathered wings, into a sky so bright
Yet Icarus, he warns again, his dire warning urged
… the sun can only shine on those, who step into light
