Thinking back to winter drives from Las Vegas to Henderson
Light gray steam
ascends into the winter night
its white columns
rising from an unseen source
becomes a ghost bank
against charcoal gray rain clouds.

Gray steam ascends
into the winter morning
its columns rising
from black industrial chimneys
becomes part
of the overall could cover.
