Loneliness in a world full of people.

The world is full of lonely people searching for a friend;
a planet full of lonely folk with solitude to spend.
Loneliness besets the humble and besets the proud,
causing sadness when alone, or even in a crowd.

The Silent Crisis, reads the headline in a magazine;
in a world so full of people, loneliness is seen.
On faces gazed both here and there, a smile may begin,
yet underneath the countenance a frown resides within.

So many cities ‘round the world are crowded to be sure;
because of this, disputes and knock-down drag outs will occur.
The loneliness of struggle often makes one long for peace;
most folks would be elated if their loneliness would cease.

There goes the man upon the street in business suit and tie;
there goes the woman in the market needing things to buy.
Both are surrounded by good people in their daily chore;
but the woman and the man feel loneliness once more.

Surrounded by a group of friends, a woman calls her Dad;
despite her friends’ proximity, the woman still feels sad.
Then later on she talks a lot upon her phone that’s smart,
though heartache’s desolation overturns her applecart.

The world is full of things to do and many things to see;
the fact that lonesomeness prevails restricts the will to be.
It’s almost like the world has poured some sugar in the tank,
and folks are slowed by too much sweet without the will to thank.

Such loneliness is said to be condition of the mind;
all alone they suffer sadness—this is what they find.
All humans have inherent need to sometimes sing alone,
but going on in loneliness is like a dial tone.

Around the world in eighty days adventurers did go;
back then seclusion almost anywhere was apropos.
Today the Internet gives instant access everywhere;
despite technology, folks ‘round the world play solitaire.
