Uplifting poem
I stand now in a Prison of my own making
I've placed each stone by hand
I built the bars with bridges burnt
It's so tight I can barely stand

Shackled in bitterness and anger
Hurt and defeat
Bound by sorrow and drowned with tears
Tormented by this infernal heat

I'm cut to pieces
By my broken heart
By shattered dreams
See I was a dreamer at the start

But one day I saw a man
He was just passing by
He picked up a fallen sparrow
And lifted it to the sky

I thought what a wonder
This man outside my cell
I noticed a set of keys he had
And two were death and hell

I cried out to the man
I don't know if you can help me
See I'm in my own prison
He replied "it's you I came to see

At his command the door burst open
The walls came crumbling down
The bands were loosed the chains all fell
I was free and glad to be found

And as a potter who works the clay
He mended my broken heart
He healed my wounds
And hand in hand we did depart

He said my name is Jesus
And I'll be your dearest friend
I'll never leave nor forsake you
Even after your life comes to an end

Though I found you in a Prison
Today you'll be with me
And when your life is over
We'll walk by my crystal sea

Welcome to the family
You're now a child of the king
And so from this day forward
From my heart and mouth do his praises ring
