A sneak peek to a story I'm writing
I walked into the dark room, my feet shuffling tiredly. My hand crawls along the familiar wall, trying to find the light switch. As the hazy light turned on I had already found myself in the mirror. It still amazed me how I automatically, without realization, reach the mirror in the dark. But then again, the dark is a dear friend of mine. I look at the mask I was wearing, white with black lines to show a face’s features. My pale hand reaches the edge of the mask and I slowly take it off, my black hair falling into my face. I took a long look at my face. Pale, and thin. My cheekbones were starting to jut out, my lips practically bloodless and thin. And my eyes, my gray green eyes, look like hollowed out sockets, black as night. This was why everyone wore masks, to hide their true self. Everyone thought this normal, but it wasn’t. Everyone thought me crazy for that, but I wasn't. Or maybe I was, I’m not sure.
