I wrote this after observing how we each add to or take away from the beauty of nature.
One day my lover took me on a picnic.
We stopped in woods to eat and savor the day.
The tender flower buds had just opened for all to see.
She tried to teach me what she thought of life’s mysteries.

Life like nature follows simple rules
Of birth and growth and death in endless cycles.
We have our cyclic nature also.
It seems we grow and too soon we die.

My lover showed me other wonders of her nature.
Then the journey back.
As we crossed the bridge over brackish water
The skyline was darkened by factory smoke.

The inert city lies so near the country
growing in a never-ending cycle.
