Hey look at that I'm a fire alarm
Would I be a fire alarm?
You never see me coming,
Sitting in your room surrounded by quiet
Eating or sleeping or studying you have a solid center—
And then I pipe up, piercing the air with spontaneous musical
Screeching, hitting those high notes like a damn professional!
I’m doing what I exist for, keeping you safe, asking your thanks,
But you probably still hate my guts.
