Rising out of depression.
When we walked along pathways in May,
and the crab apple trees were in bloom,
and the sun with each infrared ray
drew us out of our lingering gloom,

we found happy in each precious step,
giving joy for each breath we did take.
Longer days spawned additional pep,
as we strolled by the edge of the lake.

June arrived with an influx of rain,
and it seemed like momentum was stilled.
Any thought of regression brought pain;
we preferred to remain spirit-filled.

As the solstice arrived with more light,
and the full moon a beckoning orb,
the progression of forward seemed right
with a bounty of warmth to absorb.

Dryer weather surrounded the Fourth,
though occasional rain did appear.
There were storm clouds from out of the north,
yet they did not arouse us to fear.

As the summer expanded our scope,
and our listlessness gave way to spry,
there were suddenly signs of new hope…
so we danced in the rain that July.
