A poet meditates
I shut my eyes
to external distractions
and let my inner vision
watch the interplay of light and shadow
dancing across my closed eyelids.

Images form
in the matrix of my imagination,
slowly transform
evolving into creatures of myth,
or aliens inhabiting
planets orbiting stars
in the Andromeda galaxy .

Without leaving Earth,
I can traverse space and time,
explore both the beauty
and the complexity
of the cosmos
and write odes to the expanding universe.
