Covering up my own rationality for what I didn't want to believe.
Backstory:

A lover said they would return from Montana at the end of summer. Deep down I knew she wasn't coming back. I could see all the signs but didn't want to accept them. So I pushed them back but reality always wins and we no longer speak to each other.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We dance with confusion and wonder,
and in the distance, we hear the thunder.
I look beyond reality and hide behind reason,
and wait impatiently for the change of the season.

Chase the sunset watching the light fade.
Seeing shadows start long, then tall,
then disappear to nothing at all.

We crash into the night and we spill over dreams,
The longer we ride the clearer this seems.

Are you living your life for the memories? Or you can't move on because of one?
