A poem inspired by the rare days of clarity when in the grips of depression.

The Burning Captain

It came today, that spark of passion
That sore seen friend, survives on rations

Held in my mind, a single flame
yet somehow flees, the mists away

This driven, mighty, north-true captain
The only one, to make change happen

He grips the wheel, bare knuckles white
he knows the mists, will be his plight

With mist peeled back, and eyes forced open
I see the shape, of what he's spoken

The captain fades, snuffed out by mist
but leaves behind, a north bound ship.
