A work in progress that I intend to expand into a children's book.
The Girl in the Purple Hat

There once was a shy little girl
Who lived in her own little world
In her big purple hat,
With Jinxy, her cat
Whose tail was peculiarly curled.

The girl in the big purple hat
Went out for a stroll one day
She saw children laughing, having fun
But wasn't sure how to join in the play.

She stood on the edge of the field
Her feet hardly touching the grass
Watching from under her big purple hat
She hadn't noticed how quickly time had passed
Just standing there, staring
With Jinxy, her cat.

The children finally noticed her there,
And the girl in the purple hat pretended not to care
As they whispered and giggled
Pointed, belittled
The girl who was nothing but scared.
