A heart-aching promise
A Promise to My Heart

A promise to my heart
That you took and tore apart
And with that went my heart
To follow that promise that got torn into pieces
And my beautiful heart got scarred.

It's a battle scar
Where she went to save that promise
Yet to find the jailer was who made it
Oh how could you break my precious heart?

I remember when you told her
She's the most beautiful of all
And how she fluttered
And how she raced to be near you.

She told me to give you a chance
And I followed her despite my friends telling me no
But she and I trusted you
But you let go.

Now I understand the meaning for when you said she was the most beautiful of all
For to you she was a trophy to win
Not something to hold so carefully and love so deeply
Only something to wear around your neck
Oh how could you take a piece of her and I when you left?

So stupid was I to trust you with her
I hope you are happy to know even now
This heart-aching promise
A promise to my heart
Still lingers in my mind
Waiting and hoping for you to come by
And tell me you love me
Even if it's a sugarcoated lie.
