Flash Fiction Prompt: "Don't go out there!: Seriously though, don't
Alone I stand. A bitter draft invades my person, dragging its claws across my skin. Shuddering spine, my dermis becomes goose flesh.

Faintly, I can hear a flapping sound, it gets louder by the second and my attention is drawn to the sky above me. The sky becomes black as an infinite flock of Loons pass by overhead, squalling as their wide mass engulfs the cloudy sky, transforming the world around me into a realm of Shadows.

My instincts are my only tool now, as I make my way home completely blinded by the darkness. I cross the field, one foot in front of the other, making sure not to place my weight until I was confident enough to do so. Though it is black as night my eyes are open, desperate to see what is in front of me.

Miraculously, I arrived at my cabin. Feeling for the doorknob, it slips into my hand and I give it, a twist, letting myself in. I flip it the switch on the right and light floods the room.

Mystified, tired feet shuffle to the kitchen, and plop down at the small table. My mind is blank, flabbergasted by the oddity.

Mouser, my fluffy long-haired kitty, jumped down from a near-by bookshelf. I nearly jumped out of my skin. Giving a small β€œmeow?” he walked over to the front door and pawed at it.

Shaking my head, I furrowed my brow at him and replied, β€œDon’t go out there.”
