This is a true story.
My Life as a Foster Child

When I was five years old I was put into foster care because my mother couldn't take care of me. I was moved through many foster homes and had many "new friends" as I called it. At one point I even got to stay with my mother again because she was doing better but it didn't last long. As I was young everything was quite confusing and I didn't get why I couldn't just stay with my mom. For me, birthdays just meant one more year staying at a that was not my own. No cake, no balloons, no presents. At that point, I understood more than I should for my age. Sometimes I would cry myself to sleep because I was scared. I dreamed of amazing parents who loved me no matter how much I pushed them away. Then felt bad because I wanted more than what I was given. I always looked forward to I don't know why maybe because there I could at least try to relate to people and make friends or maybe because I didn't want to be home sitting on the bottom of a random bunk looking out the window trying myself not to cry and still feel my warm tears. When my foster parents ask me if I'm happy it's hard because I'm not. families that give me food and shelter will not last forever. I knew that I was safer there but I missed my mom and dad.
