A poem about a grown-up who's been that way all their life.
All my life the sun has been
just out of reach, not yet akin,
But as I've grown I've learned the truth,
The empty days, unfilled with youth.

I grew up too fast to wonder why,
unlike the birds, I couldn't fly,
and never wished upon myself,
to be a princess or an elf.

And now I'm grown and humbly pray,
Lord, please take the rain away.
My imagination's in decay,
Lord, please take the rain away.
