From the depths of despair comes hope
I shield myself from the bitter chill with a cloak
I befriend the snow angels on the dirty ground
This raw cold spell has brought me into maturity
The wind chasing my dreams away, years ago.

Oh, the stories I’ve lived and breathed
The pain and distress I’ve encountered
The endurance I found from within
With no helping hand to reach out to

I conjure this to find some image of warmth
Some soft place to sit and feel the sunlight
An honest plea for tenderness and relief
I hear the world is full of such things.

If I could just find the way to the civil
Those who live free from such thoughts
My nightmare would finally be past me
The laughter might finally come back

My interest is peaking, my senses awake
I listen to the silence that follows the rainfall
The sight of a spritely leaf baptized in the dew
As I find myself merging back to humanity.
