My take on the fall out of building someone up in your mind.
This world I built
Is an illusion
This you I built
Is nothing--delusion
Lying with you a moment
Leaves me in disillusion
I know what you are now
Crystal clear--no confusion
You led me to conclusion

A game, a lie, I know
I learned a long time ago…

My feelings never mattered
How many times to start new
My naked heart battered
How many times to start over
No happy ever after's
How many times to start again
My feelings never matter

Here you come again
Another intrusion
Intense devotion, a game
So good the fusion
In the end it will play
end my world of seclusion
Gone again, raw and scarred
Again I am losin'
You are an illusion

Lying here dying I know
I learned a long time ago…

My feelings never mattered
How many times to start new
My naked heart battered
How many times to start over
No happy ever-after's
How many times to start again
My feelings never mattered

Rise phoenix, burnt ashes
That is a delusion
All alone in my head
See all this confusion
I was never enough
I was the exclusion
My feelings didn't matter
You I built is an illusion
