Dad Knows the Score

“We’re going to get caught.”

“That’s the point isn’t it?” said Jeannie.

“Getting caught?” asked Alice, surprised.

“Well yeah, if we don’t get caught, then the guys might think it was someone else who did it, and we won’t get any credit at all.”

“Why do we want credit? Aren’t we doing this to be sneaky?”

“You’re new at boys aren’t you.”

“Huh?”

“Boys think girls are dummies. They think all we do is follow the rules and try to be goodie two shoes.”

“I know! It’s so easy to fool them.”

“Which is great, but we don’t want to fool Jeff and Brian because we want them to ask us to the dance, right?”

“Ah...?”

“We want them to think we’re smart.”

“But...”

“But we want them to think, that we think, they’re smarter... get it?”

“So this whole plan, is to get caught, so they’ll think they’re smarter than us?”

“Sort of.”

“That’s crazy smart!”

“That’s exactly what my Dad says all the time.”

“What is?”

“That I’m very smart, and that I’m very crazy!” Jeannie laughed.
