If you've been downrange, you'll get this one easily. It's a work in progress. We'll see

Have you seen it, brother, At nighttime in your dreams?
That stark and broken wilderness, the world split at its seams.

Along the broad horizon, there the restless dead
Walk endless varied pathways with an ancient trace of dread.

Their souls may never be at peace, their wandering ensues, and
I know that I will join them to lay those paths beneath my shoes.

I have lived a thousand nightmares, my soul baptized in blood.
I left a trail of widows nearly everywhere I stood.

Always I had wanted to be a man of peace,
But the place I had in this world required a bitter lease.

So I already know my fate when comes my time to die.
I'll join those weary warriors beneath the ragged sky.
