A Poem: Ordinariness, I think I admire the most
Ordinary

Ambition is such a grand pursuit, I admire it so
A freedom to create and express
Wealth and fame, Success
Oh, how nice and fun!
I enjoy the finer things too,
A nice glass of wine, A pretty dress, Glittery gold
They can be nice.
Stars and suns and oceans too
Very Admirable indeed

Talent
Yes, I admire that also, The inner pursuit as well.
The spiritual soul, The one who keeps discovering themselves
The one who knows they don’t know
All there is, And never can
I admire the mystery, I admire their courage

I admire The one who keeps falling over and still getting up.
I admire the tired man, Maybe depressed in his ways,
Who still comes home and kisses his wife. Tired as he is.
I admire The Waitress, Smiling At me, I know how long she has smiled At people today
And still she smiles, At me.
I admire the comfort of my legs, Draped over a past love, Touch,
And welcome, in old slacks, With weary eyes.

I admire my brother, his emojis full of
kisses, and how he calls me “Sweetie”

I admire crooked teeth, And grey hairs.
Pot belly’s, Sugar in tea
Cups with cracks
Afternoon naps
Old photos of bad outfits,
Once worn, With forever friends.
I admire belly laughs
Oh, And snorts, They are the best.

The Ordinary
Your Ordinariness.
And Mine
Ordinariness, I think
I admire The Most.
