A poem in Dutch Tanka form
I came to you
because you asked me to
after I'd left.
So now I ask,
why today?

You said “why not,”
which did not clarify
a single thing.
But I came back,
so now what?

You needed me,
which I knew all along.
So now I'm back
and things are fine
Are they not?


Dutch Tanka format: 21 syllables, divided over 5 lines as shown below. Stanza 5 ends with a question.
