I'm as heartsick as an orphan is alone,
For the one I love has left me by the road,
For the music of our love made not a sound,
While the melody of life remotely flowed,
We were drowning in the bluest blues around,
And the deepest darkest shadows became home,
Let the beating of our hearts forget to pound,
And our sinew cry out for the strength to roam,
As the blues bear down upon us like a stone.
The best tonic when your love life goes astray,
Let the bluesman come and play the blues away.
