“Why did you turn there?”

“It’s the way…”

“No, you were supposed to turn left there! Now we’re going to be late!”

“No, I was supposed to turn right there. I know my rights.”

“Well I know that particular right takes us to Melborn and you can’t go left at the end of Melborn Street so we’ll have to go right again and we’ll end up on Pilbury. There’s always a lot of traffic on Pilbury so we’re gonna be late!”

“Exactly…”

“Huh?”

“Did you want to be on time, and have to listen to Martha tell her story of all the pies she baked this week…”

“Ohhh.”

“And then Phyllis will start telling her about the prize she won in nineteen sixty-four for her brownies and how it’s such a secret recipe…”

“I get it. If we’re late we get to skip that.”

“Exactly, but you can’t just BE late, there has to be a real reason.”

“Like traffic on Pilbury?”

“Exactly!”

“So, you go that way all the time?”

“Only every other Wednesday on my way to Bakers Club…”

“You dog!”

“Woof!”
