connecting to someone who is no longer here
Sometimes I wonder where you are
Like somehow imagining that you're finally free after being stuck in this land locked state
You traveled a bit but not much
And now I'm trying to go everywhere all at once

I've always wanted to leave here
         But now I'm very afraid
Because all our memories are here and it feels like leaving that means leaving you
I'm not brave enough to say that out loud so I just struggle while the people around me beg to move on

I hear the advice get out of here while you can
It's so expensive it's not worth it
And while I can't say they're wrong I cannot leave the trees that hold you
The buildings where I can still picture your face the drives that make me cry because I just wish you were still here

But you will never be here again
Not in the way that I want at least
I long to hear your voice and see your face again and I'm so scared I might forget what you looked liked or sounded like
I cannot leave you here alone

You were the most important person to me and somehow no one understands
No one talks about you enough I don't see anyone cry
I want you to bring me to your new home
Where the ocean meets the sky
