I met a man called Viv here at WdC. For a year we spoke before the truth came out.
I see him in a cottage, perched high up in the hills.
This is where my friend, Vivian lives, far away from all the dills.
Along with his CAG dog Bella; she lives up there too.
Far out of the city, where independence and dreams come true.

He's got challenges galore, but really, don't we all?
At least, now they are his choices, good or bad...it's HIS call.
A man and his dog, on the land facing life with pride.
Where no one can make him leave...not until he himself, decides.

But then, a year after we met, the brutal truth came out.
As it always does...there was never any doubt.
So, how can two friends face such a cicatricial unknown?
When in my brain his gender was so tightly sewn.

The reasons why couldn't change the way that I think,
When a man becomes a woman, in the time it takes to blink.
The tears I cried had nothing to do with her gender,
But simply came from the reality that one of us was a pretender.

We tried to move on, but it just wasn't the same.
Because to me friendship is not some kind of game.
In all honesty, it was impossible to convert him to her.
And get back what we had...the exceptional way we were.

As sad as it is, it definitely wasn't a waste.
I learned a lot from my friend...this boy who was erased.
He inspired the best in me, and for that, I'm truly blessed.
Sometimes it takes the worst situation, to bring out our very best.
