Relationship
A Falling Star

I cannot turn my heart off,
I don't know how or why,
But I think that I will love you
Until the day I die.

Perhaps it's best to stay right here
And love you from afar.
If I should come to where you are
I'd be a falling star.

We may not touch with hugs and such,
But we can always feel.
This bond we hold between us
Is undeniably real.

Yet when we get together
It all turns upside down.
The smile I once put on your face
Becomes a sorrowful frown.

What causes this I cannot say,
But in my heart I know.
You let your mind think dreadful things
Then what you reap you sow.

You've never learned to trust me
No matter what I do.
You think whatever comes to mind.
It isn't me, it's you.

I've never been unfaithful,
Nor entertained the thought,
But in your mind you think I have
And in this web you're caught.

Oh, foolish man, how sad it is
To see you struggle so
With all those thoughts you're thinking of
No matter where I go.

I talked to God, I walk my dog,
I do my daily chores.
I have no thoughts of wandering.
I'm faithful to the core.

It's mighty hard on a woman's heart
When she is pure and clean.
She clings to all she knows of love
And wonders why you're so mean.

You speak those accusations,
They hit her like a fist...
Your words become a weapon,
Her dreams become a mist.

So I will keep my distance
And love you from afar,
For if I come to where you are
I'd be a falling star.
