Inspired by ‘august’ by Taylor Swift. Nostalgia of being with someone you love.
running up and down the beach
sand kicking up into the air
hollers fill the surroundings
the cloudy sky matches my feelings
gloomy but with hope hiding behind
waiting for an opportunity to shine beyond
into your heart

pure joy
from simply being out and about,
sharing these moments with you,
remembering every minute
like Polaroids hung on string with wooden pegs

seagulls cry out
like my heart does for you
the waves crash
a distant sound in the background
my breath quickens and catches in my throat
when i catch sight of you
the emotions which crowd my heart
makes me feel like this is more than just
a summer love

the simple nostalgia
i feel when i whirl around without a care
like when we were kids
it makes me dizzy
like when I'm with you

the Polaroids slip from the pegs
will you catch them
or let them drift away
carried by the salty sea wind?
