She turns 80 this year - and is still a firecracker -
Hard to believe that in 1943
There was still a war raging on;
But in a small Michigan town
My mom was born.

She has raised 4 girls
In the course of her life,
And read books by the scores;
She still reads them, but now uses a tablet.

This year has marked a new first for her,
A Caribbean cruise - a first for someone
Who has given up driving and is
A definite "homebody".

Now, she has been to a concert this year-
Venturing back out into the world.
She has started talking about
Going on another cruise.

I'm not exactly sure what has happened
To my 80-year old mom,
But to see the life in her reborn
Is a wonderous sight to see.
