When Summer and Autumn get close together
Sunset in September
when the sun slides down
sooner and sooner
summer's warmth starts to wane
ever so gently
the air starts to feel less stifling
shadowed by the anticipating moon's
earlier arrival
as it waits to shine so brightly
against the watercolor sky
that turns from blue to purple to red to black
a masterpiece that morphs
behind the fading light.
