Changing mistakes. A writer's cramp entry
Pushing button or twisting a wheel,
I can't go back in time to change how you feel.
But one tiny decision, this I can manage.
I'd go back to one moment and pull the plug on the damage

I caused you when unthinkingly, selfishly I
Ignored the despair, the sad tear in you eye.
That welled from within, deep and resounding.
Without an audible word or fist-pounding.

Loudly, the tear glistened on your beautiful face.
But preoccupied, I let you go without chase.
And now here's a chance to do over again.
So, shutting the laptop, I took the sound in.

I saw and I listened to that little tear
I held you and talked until morning was near.
I could not change how you felt, but I might
Give you all my attention and make one thing right.
