A poem dedicated to my Aunt Rachel, who recently passed away.
Silence in between the furniture
Your home is quiet

Closed blinds
Closed curtains
Closed doors
Closed off

Dull hues are blanketed over everything you used to love
Photos on the wall become the tears on your cheeks
The dog that once slept at your feet
Is stuck waiting by the door

And you felt something
For the very last time

And I can only hope it was contentment
