California trailer park childhood
Box fans, carpet stains
Skinning knees is alleyways
Cigarettes on an orange lit porch
And this heat is killing me

Mold and must
But there aint no dust
Everything is used because we only have what we need
And the pulsing sun is swallowing me

Chainlink-scarred creek kid whose
Vocabulary is heavy of stamps:
Post stamps, tramp stamps, food stamps
Trampled by scorching solar beams, i am perspiring dirt

The heat kills when youre a kid in a tin home
Slapped between suburbia and hell
But i keep heart, because God is watching us
In the trailer park
