         A fist-size dirt clod rolls out          and stops at Quinn's feet
         He picks it up, examines it,          hears someone coming, and places it in his pocket
         Snail disappears
         He hears sounds coming down the          path and tries to hide, but not in time
         It is Blackberry, Petal, and          Solara
         Surprised to see him

         A window is slightly open

         He hears louder sobbing

         Quinn quietly sneaks up and          sees a bleeding and beaten Alyssum
         Quinn jumps over barrels and          lands bend the two assailants, startling them
         Pirphal tells Quinn it's a          private party and to leave
         Quinn refuses to leave
         Pirphal threatens him
         Pirphal tells Folre to fight          Quinn
         Folre starts to move around the          floor with his fists up in a defensive stance
         Folre keeps dancing around the          floor, thinking he is tiring him out.
         Quinn swings and hits Folre,          knocking him out
         Pirphal steps forward to fight          Quinn
         Pirphal takes a wide swing at          Quinn and misses
         Quinn gives Pirphal a jab to          the stomach, winding him
         They circle one another,          taunting each other
         Pirphal takes another wide          swing, this time clips Quinn on the top of his head
         Quinn does another uppercut          with his dominant hand, knocking Quinn back
         Quinn asks Pirphal if he is          warmed up and ready to fight
         Pirphal asks, looking          bewildered
         Pirphal falls over, unconscious
         Quinn rushes to Alyssum's side          to assist her
         She won't let him touch her
         He tries to calm her down
         He speaks to her calmly and          softly
         She finally agrees to leave to          seek medical attention
         Days later, Alyssum is in the          Medic Center, and Folre and Pirphal are with Constable G'Nar

         King has been searching for          Quinn's Da for years

         Quinn goes over to the trunk,          sees a symbol on the chest, and places his hand on it. He feels a          slight tingle in his hand and withdraws his hand away from the          chest; everything freezes around him
         Inia does not move, and Quinn          cannot get her to speak
         When he attempts the door, it          will not open
         A flickering glow comes from          the chest
         A green flame is burning
         No heat is felt
         Water does not put it out
         Quinn goes to the door and          attempts to open it and feels heat from his shirt pocket
         He takes his shirt off and          finds a mud ball with a green flame burning around it
         Recognizes the mud ball from          the Snail
         Thought he left it in his Niche
         Grabs water pitcher and pours          it over mudball flame
         Nothing happens to the flame
         Flames are no longer hot to          touch
         It falls apart to reveal the          key, also burning green
         Gently touches the key and          finds no heat
         He picks up the key and goes          back over to the chest
         Placing lock in left-hand
         Inserting the key into the key          chamber
         Turning the key until a loud          clicking sound is heard, unlocking the chest
         Quinn jerks back his left hand          in pain
         Left has a fresh red welt from          a burn mark of a strange design he has never seen before.
         The pain is intense but is          somehow subsiding
         Inia continues to talk as if          she never stopped talking
         Quinn tells her of what          occurred
         He shows her his hand
         He asks her to leave while he          examines his Da's chest
         Quinn opens the chest
         Quinn finds a Heraldic Shield
         Three wings long
         One and a half wings in width
         The design on the shield is of          a Long Sword pointing downward with an ornate golden hilt
         The shield has serrated edging          to inflict damage
         A Long Sword is found
         The blade immediately brightens          to a firey green without the heat
         Cannot let go of the hilt
         He calls his aunt, Inia, back          into the room
         She recognizes the weapon and          shield.
         The shield's design is that of          Iomadae, the goddess of Righteous Valor and Honor
         Quinn's Da must have made a          Pact with the goddess to get these weapons to aid in his combat.
         He must not have had these when          the King took him away
         Because Quinn's Da could not          fulfill the Pact, it has fallen to Quinn.

         Halrond's gre-Mem cast a curse          on Nyhadora because she was a Sun Elf
         The spell had two trigger          points
         The first trigger point was          after the birth of Meira
         Nyhadora was turned into a          pixie who was fixated on herself to the point that she needed to          constantly look at herself in the mirror and became violent when she          wasn't.
         Halrond had to send his wife to          one of their private houses because she became too violent around          everyone.
         The second trigger occurred          when Meira celebrated her two hundredth birth celebration.
         She changed physically.
         Her eyes developed a yellow          tint, allowing her to perceive heat signatures in pitch blackness.
         Her hearing became so acute she          could hear a heartbeat behind a wall 25 ft away around a corner.
         Her sense of touch was so          sensitive that she could feel the difference in the stones on the          floor after someone had passed over them within 60 minutes.                    
         Changes in Meira's Nature
