a feeling that wraps me whole
i forget i’m human

i tend to forget i’m human
i tend to forget i’m flesh and bones,

there’s only so much my mind can keep under control,
only so much my heart is responsible for.

i fear i won’t recognise myself
when the time comes for me,
when change is waiting to enter the room,
patiently but surely.

i fear for my mind is unstable,
and so is my body, frail as a feather, stubborn as a fool.

i forget i get hurt
i forget i bleed;
and so i bleed, and so in pain i grieve
for something i was not aware was mine,

i forget i’m human
i have much to accomplish for myself to be alright,
i forget i’m human
i tend to think this body isn’t mine.
