The end of January feels like a question mark
January comes, brisk and bold
a New Year for hopes to come alive
A chance for plans to take hold
for shiny dreams to arrive

We have hoped for fresh starts
but now other things are on the mind
Like upcoming Spring and Valentine hearts
as January starts to unwind

It's like the hopeful gloom
of faded red poinsettia leaves
the pained beauty of a wispy bloom
as January gently leaves.

Note: I used leaves for the same rhyming word in the last part of this poem because I thought it would be interesting to used the same word for 2 different meanings.
