Big Daddy for brunch

In Bangkok, Thailand.

Sam Adams
Was a retired paranormal researcher
For the Cosmos Institute in Berkeley, California.

Big Daddy was a spook, a cipher,
A retired secret agent man
Who lived in the shadow world
Still doing jobs on occasion
For agencies that did not exist.

He was called Big Daddy
Because he was an ex-football player
6 feet 10 inches
Of pure fitness

Which he kept up
With intense workouts
And five-mile runs.

And no one knew his real name
Except Sam Adams
Who had done occasional work
For Big Daddy
And knew most of his secrets.

They were best friends
From First Grade
And took no s...
From each other.

Sam told Big Daddy,

“Hey Big Daddy,
I need a snarling cup of hot coffee
And a hair of the dog that bit me
In the ass last night.
I’m still tired from all the CrossFit this morning.”

Big Daddy poured him a cup of coffee
And wryly commented,
