A metaphorical journey of life, that begins with small stream
Healing Waters

I came upon a tiny stream
And pondered upon its way
It twinkled like a shiney gem
And bid me on my way

I was invited to a larger brook
That babbled with much delight
Which spoke to me for hours
And I laughed 'til it was night.

I awoke to the sounds of herons
Capturing their morning meal
And thereupon my journey
My soul began to heal

For the brook was giving directions
In a playful kind of way
Babbling about a slippery rock
And to be careful where it lay.

I stumbled upon that very rock
And splashed into a creek
I noted the giddy babblings
And I laughed until I was weak.

The creek was way too busy
Collecting leaves upon her banks
The oaks were being generous
While the creek was giving thanks.

The river on the other hand
Was deeper than all the rest
As swift as any ocean
And a match to any crest.

I decided not to cross her
She looked angry, as if to say;
‘Only wade upon my waters edge
for tomorrow’s better day.’

The day turned into nightfall
The moon alit my path
The river watched me sternly
Yet spared me all her wrath.

The morning came as promised
The river kept her vow
And ushered me into the shallows
And the herons, showed me how.

As I approached the other side
I heard a distant shore
Slapping a steady rhythm
Much louder than before.

My Heart was beating faster
My Soul became a wisp
As it lingered upon the air
That was clean and clear and crisp.

She glistened of blue and silver
The Lady of The Lake
She bade me to cross over
But be mindful of her wake.

I accepted her gracious offer
And I swam within her reach
Her currents were opened arms
Her shoulders, sandy beach

As I compassed the other side
Before the setting of the sun
I knew not where my journey began
Or when it had begun

For my lady became the ocean
Where horizons touched the skies
And I was at her mercy
Amid her rolling tides
