A short poem about a funeral.
Grief becomes song
as the funeral dirge plays on.

Mournful expressions across faces
the great expanse of loss filling empty spaces.

Weeping in black, tears ricochet
crestfallen hearts with little to say.

There is pain in their eyes, sorrow heavy in their hands
and only few who understand.

A grave plot beneath a tree
a solemn prayer unto thee.

Flowers placed upon the casket
the end of life, so hard to grasp it.

Another body laid to rest
someone to miss, but never forget.
