The books that mark the days and nights of my life.

Page Turners - a Poem

Heidi

Pippi Longstocking

Little Women

all the Nancy Drews.

Wondering what it must be like

to live alone,

to be old,

to find out why.

To Kill a Mockingbird

Tale of Two Cities

Canterbury Tales

Friday night football games.

Making out in the driveway.

Learning secrets.

The Best and the Brightest

All the President's Men

On War

The Boys on the Bus

Having keys of my own.

Eating peanut butter sandwiches for lunch

- and dinner.

Learning checks bounce.

Ken Follet's

Two of Susan Isaccs' twelve; still waiting for more of the same

Nelson DeMille's

Only the first Nicholas Sparks'

and Vince Flynn's . . . too late.

Finally reading for fun again.

1984 seeming a long way away.

2 a.m. feedings.

And the words kept me company.
