Simple Short story of how my parents, L.D. and Patsy, met, lived, and died.
Once upon a time there was a beautiful young lady named Patsy who worked as a secretary at Silvey Motor Company in Athens, Ga. across from the Varsity hot dog place. She met a handsome younger (only by 15 months) man there who was known as L.D. (Dee) Lord. The two of them fell deeply in love and expressed their wedding vows to each other on June 2, 1951.

Then in March 1952 a daughter was born, then in July 1956 a son, and in June 1962, a baby girl who lived only a few hours. The 1st daughter resembled the mother and the boy resembled the father. It was a very nice family, who also had pets named Spot the dog and Tabby the cat.

The homestead still stands but the loving couple have passed on and other generations have followed in succession with their love. Mama passed Feb. 7th, 2006, Daddy passed 11 years ago today, January 8th, 2011, on an extremely bitterly, cold day, that caused the south to freeze that weekend. It was hard to deal with, and it was difficult to travel but the family convened once again to show their love and support for one another.

Life truly seems indeed short upon one's death but we remember the good times, and the bad, and some things we don't remember at all. Thus comes in the other family members as we still share stories of the times before even we existed. Their legacy, and our others who have left us, however, can last forever if we continue staying in touch sharing that love and the stories of our families. They, as we, are all deserving of the respect of their lives lived to do what they knew as "the best they could do, with what they had", to continue that true family love that still exists within and intertwiningly in our Lord and Porterfield families.

May God bless us all. And thankfully, they haven't had to experience this horrible pandemic called Covid. But we know they had their epidemics and pandemics under different names as the world continues to turn. We are strong and we persevere as we've been taught from our elders. Take it, keep it, and share it.

I love you all.
Vicki Lynne.
