A poem about the loss of my mother
Where Did You Go?

I blinked and you were gone,
your presence was withdrawn.
I didn’t get to say goodbye,
gone in the blink of an eye.
I knew that you were unhappy,
your life to you seemed crappy.
But never in a million years,
did I expect to cry these tears.

Tears that seem to fall forever,
and solace I will find never.
Your life to anyone was tragic,
and your moods were often manic.
But our hearts you blew aside,
when you then chose suicide.
Your guilt I can only imagine,
but I forgave with compassion.

Through it all we did have fun,
and spent some days in the sun.
But even our walks in the park,
had an element of dark.
And it was no coincidence,
that to you I lost my innocence.
In the end separation,
was your only reparation.

Though today I still grieve,
it gets better I believe.
Clouds have a silver lining,
and God has his own timing,
It is not mine to question,
or to give God suggestion.
I am not here only to feel pain,
but to use it for others gain.

Although these words may help heal,
your loss is still so surreal.
As I continue my life’s journey,
and too have thought to leave early.
I instead use words to share,
so others may find repair.
Once in a while I stop the show,
and ask myself “Where did you go?”.
